King Is Keen On A Midweek Friendly Test

Welling United may have suffered only one loss since August but that hasn’t stopped manager Steve King trying to get even more football into his squad.

The Wings went top on Saturday as they beat Hungerford - and King now wants some help arranging a friendly on Wednesday night.

The 3-1 victory took them ahead of Woking, who are in action this weekend in the FA Cup against Swindon Town.

King, though, needs a helping hand.

He said: “We’re so happy with how things are going this season. We’re a brand new team - we’ve only got one player left from last season so to be doing so well is fantastic.

“Saturday was a hard game but we did the job. It was an important three points.

“We’re trying to arrange an away game on Wednesday to keep us ticking over and because we have a number of players coming back from injury who need some game time.

“We’re not overly worried about the level the team plays at so if anyone can help we would love to hear from them.”
