Keates Continues His Hunt For Wrexham's Next Striker

By Sam Elliott

Wrexham manager Dean Keates has revealed he wants to sign another striker with his squad yet not completed.

The Red Dragons boss got the desired response from his side at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Altrincham last night.

Following a defeat he dubbed “not good enough” on Saturday, they won 2-0 and the manager told us this morning his mind is still on strengthening his hand.

Wrexham face Macclesfield on the first day of the season and Keates said: “I’m looking for one more, maybe two.

“We’ve got to see how things are over the next day or two but I would ideally like to get another striker in. We’ve added in that area but I would like one more.

“I’m hearing thing from a number of people and they’re becoming more difficult to get hold of.”

On last night’s win, Keates said: “Altrincham were decent, they’ll do well next season and I got the reaction I wanted.

“The changing room was a much happier place but we need to take that forward now as time’s running out.

“More players are getting the minutes they need and, as much as results aren’t the important thing, it’s never a bad thing to be winning games of football.

“Pre-season has been interesting for a lot of reason and you can feel players getting a bit closer every game.

"It was the performance we needed last night but we’ve picked the friendly games we have for a reason. We know what we’re getting.”
