Jumping Jack Is Slough’s Super September Stopper!

By Sam Elliott

The Rebels had a moment of blind panic in September. It spoke volumes for how important Jack Turner is to the league’s newcomers.

The goalkeeper picked up a slight elbow injury and was a doubt for the FA Cup tie with Sholing. Problem is, the stopper is so reliable Slough don’t have a back-up.

Joint manager Neil Baker took drastic action. He pleaded for a non-cup tied ‘keeper to come forward on Twitter - and the story made national headlines!

Turner’s form in the National League South has been a big part of the reason why they have not looked at all out of place since promotion.

In particular, his save in the 1-0 win at Chelmsford City last month was described “as one of the best I have ever seen” by veteran midfielder Scott Davies.
