Harrogate's Full-Time Switch Paying Off In Pre-Season

Simon Weaver is putting his men through their paces as Harrogate Town look to rediscover their play-off touch.

Town were narrowly beaten in the 2015-16 National League North play-off semi-finals by AFC Fylde.

After a respectable eleventh-placed finish this season, in a highly competitive division, the club has now gone full-time, in a bid to recapture that play-off success.

Last night Harrogate won their first public pre-season friendly 1-0 at Parkgate and manager Weaver shared his thoughts on how his side has converted to the full-time programme.

"I think that they've adapted to it superbly well," he told the club's website. "We've hit them hard, to be honest, with the fitness schedule. It's probably the hardest pre-season most of the lads have had but that's what we wanted to do.

"We want to test our resolve and make sure they break through those mental barriers. They've showed great fortitude and come out better for it.

"Hopefully we'll get the right fitness by August 5th and the full-time training will make sure that the club can certainly climb to higher fitness levels and hopefully a higher level of performance as well.
