Garrard: Lessons Learnt From Luton Loss

Luke Garrard took positives from his sides performance despite a 0-2 loss at Meadow Park to the League Two side.

Goals from Mpanzu and Olly Lee proved to be the difference in this match as the team a league above gained victory, writes Tom Feaheny.

Afterwards Garrard told the club's website just how valuable an experience it had been.

"I have learnt more from this game than the previous wins, we knew it would be a tough test, they looked strong and played a system that asked questions of my side, I have learnt a lot today."

"I felt at times we held our own, overall it was an exercise we have not had this pre-season. I felt the shape they have means we have a bit more experience of it for the other matches.

Kane Smith who joined the club on a two-year deal from Hitchin Town during pre-season has impressed his manager.

"His end product is unbelievable, he is learning the shape and the system but he has settled in really well so far."

Looking ahead to their next game on Monday against Hemel Hempstead Town, Garrard knows it will be an important fixture ahead of the big kick-off.

"It is going to be a good test, very realistic to a National League fixture, this is another match that is important for us as we prepare."
