Gannon Gets His Hands On Gilchrist As Jason Makes Move

Stockport County have added some late-season firepower to their squad in the shape of Southport striker Jason Gilchrist.

The forward moves to the National League North title-chasers on loan until the end of the season.

He won the league's Golden Boot last season - and can play in the play-offs if County don't take the title.

Gilchrist’s form last season saw him earn England C recognition and although he hasn’t been able to repeat his scoring exploits this term, he remains a dangerous player.

Manager Jim Gannon has moved to add an extra forward as they attempt to beg back leaders Chorley.

The manager was happy with Tuesday night’s 2-1 win over Ashton United but said he had concerns about how leggy his side were.

“I don't think we've been at our best for a while, no-one's at their maximum, maybe it's tiredness or mental fatigue and we need to work through that,” he said.

“We had this issue last season where we take control of the game and suddenly give the other team hope, but we have to accept where we are and be resilient.'

County host Darlington this weekend as they look to keep the heat on Chorley, who they face next month.
