Friends And Vose! Dom Is Ready For Wrexham Return

Chester winger Dominic Vose is looking forward to his return to former club Wrexham on Sunday, but can’t promise that he won’t celebrate if he scores a last-minute winner!

The two rivals meet in the cross-border derby live on BT Sport, with both clubs needing the three points on top of bragging rights for different reasons.

Wrexham are eager to put to bed a run of draws in their quest for promotion, while Chester remain in the relegation zone – six points adrift of safety.

Vose knows all about the intense rivalry between the two sets of fans having played and scored for the Dragons against Chester in 2015.

His penalty that day wasn’t enough as the Seals ran out 3-2 victors, but the 24-year-old will be hoping to be on the winning side this time around.

Marcus Bignot and Dean Keates won’t have much of a job in getting their players up for the clash at the Racecourse Ground, with Vose expecting another ‘crazy’ atmosphere.

He said: “It’s a big derby. The Wrexham and Chester fans make it a crazy atmosphere!

“When I played in it last time, I played at the Chester ground. Flares were flying up and down, so I guess it will be pretty similar at Wrexham.

“I’m looking forward to going back and seeing a few old faces, I haven’t been there since I left.”

And if Vose happens to score and celebrate against his former employers, for whom he netted 10 times in 28 appearances, he says that it won’t be anything personal towards the Wrexham faithful.

“I guess it depends on the circumstances. If it’s a last-minute winner, then who knows what can happen,” The attacker continued.

“Whatever happens, it won’t be in a disrespectful way to the Wrexham fans. I enjoyed my time there, but football’s football and players move on – I’m with Chester now.”

Vose is lending a helping hand to Chester by playing for just his travel expenses - something he says is down to the love he has for the game.

“I’ve been here for four games and played four 90 minutes, so I’ve enjoyed it since I’ve been here.

“The club are in a financial predicament and I said, you know what, I don’t really care about money. I just want to play football.

“We had a conversation regarding football and the football was right. I’m a footballer first and foremost, so I just wanted to play football and help the team get out of the relegation battle.”

As the games tick down and the threat of relegation increases for the Blues, Vose insists that his side must believe they can escape the drop.

He said: “We’re feeling upbeat. We’re obviously a bit frustrated with results. We’re going in the right direction in terms of how we’re playing.

“The results haven’t followed, but we’re playing a better way
in recent weeks so hopefully we can turn the corner in terms of results on Sunday.

“There has to be belief. There’s 10 games left, 30 points to play for so the season’s not over and I believe we can get ourselves out of this situation.”
