Flying Solo! Eastleigh Are Looking To Profit

Eastleigh’s players have been urged to make the most of an otherwise blank weekend.

Chester make the trip to the Silverlake Stadium on Saturday - and it’s the only match in the Vanarama National League.

Manager Richard Hill wants his side to make the most of the fact that others aren’t in league action because of the FA Cup.

That means securing back-to-back victories for the first time this season.

Should they do that, then Eastleigh will jump four places - overtaking Gateshead, Fylde, FC Halifax and Tranmere Rovers in the process.

Hill suggests their 2-1 win at title contenders Macclesfield last time out shows what they are capable of.

He said: “We’re the only game on and it gives us the chance to climb the league, which we need to do soon.

“But it’s the same for Chester who can get out of the bottom four if they win the game so it’s an important one.

“We have a few injury issues again but we do have Gavin Hoyte back from suspension. I just think we need to get a home win to lift the fans."

On last weekend’s headline making victory at Moss Rose, the Spitfires' boss said it had been coming.

“We know we weren’t that far away and we just need things to fall for us,” said the former Whitehawk manager.

“It showed everyone that maybe we have a lot to offer this season. It could be the type of result which moves us forward.”
