Flowers: Magnificent Moors Won't Be A Flash In The Pan!

Easter Monday saw the Moors cap a remarkable campaign by confirming a top three finish.

And although their goalless draw with Leyton Orient puts the title realistically out-of-reach, Flowers was in a buoyant mood about the club's future.

"To finish in the top three when this time last year we were going up to Tranmere to try and stay in the division is a metamorphic turnaround in our fortunes," he said.

"It’s an incredible achievement to be where we are at this stage, but we’ve got to build and look at the future - no one is slapping each other on the back in the changing room."

If you'd listened to the bookies back in August, you'd be forgiven for expecting Flowers' men to be battling the drop again.

Eight months on and the former goalkeeper hopes to have banished any talk of struggling for good.

"When you finish in the top three in any division, you’ve earned the right to be considered one of the best teams in the league," he said.

"You’re not there by fluke after 46 games, that’s impossible.

"The lads deserve all the plaudits they can get but they need to make sure they knuckle down and finish this season off properly because it isn’t over yet."
