By Tom Scott

It doesn't seem like two minutes since Leyton Orient lifted the National League trophy - but we're almost ready to go again!

Friendly games are in full swing, fitness levels are on the rise while new signings are being announced daily.

But what happened all the way back in last August on the opening day of the 2018/19 season?

The BT Sport cameras were in town for Salford City's first ever game in the National League.

It was almost the dream start against Leyton Orient but Liam Hogan's late own-goal meant to spoils were shared.

Boreham Wood put their promotion final heartbreak on the back burner - Angelo Balanta's goal enough to down Dagenham & Redbridge.

Who knew what was instore for Solihull Moors after their win at Eastleigh.

Adi Yussuf and Dan Sweeney set the Moors up for what would be a dramatic season that almost culminated in the title.

Newly-relegated Chesterfield registered a good start with a win against Ebbsfleet United while John Still's Barnet played out a goalless draw with Aldershot.

A late Kelvin Langmead strike looked to have bagged all three points for Harrogate Town.

But Sutton United bit back with a penalty in the dying embers in North Yorkshire.

Sam Ricketts had the dream start with Wrexham - Mike Fondop-Talem bagging the only goal in a win over Dover.

Braintree Town had a baptism of fire after going down 2-0 to FC Halifax.

Havant & Waterlooville also found the going tough and found couldn't stop a rampant Jack Hindle.

The Barrow forward nicked a goal in either half to give Jamie Fullarton's side a springboard start.

Danny Rowe was up to his old tricks for AFC Fylde, bagging the winner at Mill Farm against Bromley.

It looked like brighter horizons for Gateshead. After keeping hold of boss Steve Watson, the Heed took maximum points over Maidenhead.

Hartlepool United and Maidstone United played out a stalemate with Liam Noble cancelling out Blair Turgott's first-half penalty.
