Wedgbury Signs New Deal To Stay With Dragons

By Steve Whitney

Midfielder Sam Wedgbury has put pen-to-paper on a contract until the end of the 2018/19 season, extending his stay with Wrexham for at least another season.

Wedgbury told the club`s official website: “I’ve been speaking with the gaffer over the last couple of weeks and now it’s all sorted, I’m buzzing to get it signed.

“I knew I was joining a big club last summer but didn’t realise just how big it was until I signed. I’m enjoying my time here; I like playing here and the lads in the dressing room.

“I spoke with my father and partner about the offer and it’s nice to be somewhere, where you are wanted. You never know what offers you might get come the end of the season, but I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I’m glad to be here.

“We are having a bit of bad run at the moment, as we need to be wining more games.

“We are though challenging at the right end of the table and with games coming thick and fast, it’s about who can hold on in there. If we can put a few wins together, back-to-back, then who knows what can happen.”

The Sheffield-based player switched from last year’s Promotion Final winners Forest Green Rovers in the summer and has been a regular in the side since, appearing thirty-one times in the league.
