Weaver Applauds Razor Sharp Harrogate As They Go Back To Top

Harrogate Town boss Simon Weaver says the confidence in his side is high after another impressive win.

The 6-0 victory against FC United of Manchester, moved them back to top on goal difference, they have also now scored 80 goals in the league so far this season, writes Tom Feaheny.

It has been a fine season for the side who have already gone well past their full points total for the previous campaign.

Another 1000 plus attendance was on hand to see Town at their best, free-flowing attacking football with a solid defence at the back.

"We were razor sharp throughout, we passed it well, were well organised and controlled the game, I'm delighted," Weaver said.

"They all played with real enthusiasm, it was a credit to the testament of them all.

"I'm delighted to be back top again after a fine performance.

"The things we worked on all week in training, from the full-backs closing down, the midfield pushing on and the forwards."

One player who stood out was Leeds United loanee Liam Kitching, Weaver was full of praise for the defender.

"Liam is learning about the mans game, he has a lot of potential, he has played under 23 football, he is a good all round player, we can see the potential he has."

So with only a month and a half of the season to go, Town and Salford City can't be separated, Weaver had this to say on the title race.

"I think it will go down to the wire, mistakes may happen, we will stay honest and go for it, I can't wait for the last ten games now."

What summed up the feelgood factor within the club was after the interview when Simon went up to a group of young fans and thanked them for their support, as they waiting to get an autograph or two, Town now have ten matches to try and ensure they are a Vanarama National League side next season.
