St Ledger Hails One Of His Best Nights In Football

By Tom Feaheny

Guiseley interim player-manager Sean St Ledger says their 1-0 win against AFC Fylde was a night he won't forget in a hurry.

For someone who has played for the Republic of Ireland and in leagues higher, he couldn't hide his delight after, writes Tom Feaheny.

The win was secured after fine work from John Rooney who put a cross in which eventually went in.

"This is one of the best feelings I have ever had in football, we as a group didn't give in and that victory was special," St Ledger said.

"The effort and determination from all was a sight to see, I asked for a performance and I got one against a very good side.

"The fans haven't seen many home wins but they kept on making noise and played their part for sure.

"This could be a springboard for us, we have to make sure it is, a few more wins and you never know but for now the focus is on the next game, but also enjoying a great night at Nethermoor."

They are still adrift at the bottom but St Ledger knows what a win could do for the Lions.

"It is all about small steps, a good performance and result as well though is big for us, we saw a few things from the loss at the weekend that we liked, we used them in this game and now look forward to Saturday."
