Spitfires To Inspect Their Pitch Tomorrow

By Sam Elliott

Eastleigh's Silverlake Stadium pitch will be inspected tomorrow afternoon to determine if the Spitfires host their FA Cup 4th Qualifying Round match with Hereford FC or if alternative arrangements are to be make.

The Vanarama National League club have released a statement to clarify the position.

The club's recent home match with a Chester was postponed because an area of the pitch wasn't suitable for play.

Chairman Stewart Donald this week took steps to compensate the Blues and their fans for the late call off.

This weekend's FA Cup tie will be subject to a Thursday inspect, the club have confirmed.

Hereford, the Evo-Stik South Premier side, have already sold 500 tickets for the tie that has captured the imagination of the Bulls fans.

Easteligh say that there is every indication that the pitch will be playable. The Football Association have requested an inspection which the club and officials will undertake later on.

The confident Spitfires confirmed that plans are afoot if the problem persists.

"In the unlikely event of the playing surface being deemed unfit for play, a contingency plan is being put in place," read an Eastleigh statement.

Richard Hill's side are looking to put poor league form to one side and make it in the first round of the FA Cup for a fourth season running.
