Six-y Shots Make It Three From Three And Stay Top!

By David Richardson

Aldershot Town remain top of the Vanarama National League and are also the only side to win their first three games, as they smashed Guiseley 6-0.

It's often difficult to bounce back the following season after a defeat in the play-offs, but Aldershot have shown no signs of a hangover.

The Shots ran riot at their EBB Stadium this afternoon, with Matt McClure leading the charge with a brace.

Gary Waddock's side led 4-0 at half-time and added two more to compound a torrid day for the visitors.

"It's three points, a clean sheet and we've added to the goals scored column," said a content Waddock.

"I'm very pleased with the first week of the season. We always want more. I've said to the lads in there that they have a problem now, because you've set a standard and you have to maintain it.

"The level of play today was very good and we were clinical in our finishing. It was a good day all round.

"It's a long, hard league campaign and no one should get carried away with this because we're only three games in. We have to prepare and get ready for the game on Tuesday."
