Six Home Wins In A Row Leaves Davies Delighted With Side

Southport boss Kevin Davies was left pleased as they set a club Non-League record with a sixth consecutive home win.

A 3-0 victory against AFC Telford United moved the side to just a point off the play-off places, this even more impressive when they started 2018 in 21st, writes Tom Feaheny.

"The way the players have prepared the game, means we deserved the win, the players have listened and delivered, a professional performance," Davies told the club's website.

"It was one of the best performances, we have put in, in a while, I'm really proud of the players.

"We have so much quality, with the right mind-set as well, we worked hard to get these players in and it is clearly working for us."

While Davies has rightly gained a lot of credit for the work he has done, he wanted to pass on his thoughts on Jon McCarthy with the ex Chester boss having a big influence on the side as well.

"I have to give Jon McCarthy credit, we have a good blend with each other, he adds to the defensive side, I add to the attacking it just works."
