Resurgent Tranmere Focusing On Nobody But Themselves

Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon says his side’s focus remains on themselves and not sending messages to the rest of the National League.

Rovers had won five League games in a row before the shock 5-2 defeat at AFC Fylde on New Year’s Day.

Mellon says he and his side will move on quickly from that setback but when asked if they had fired a warning shot to the National League with their recent form, the boss was clear where his focus lies.

“We’re just trying to take care of our own business,” he told TRFC TV. “We’re looking to keep improving and find a level of consistency that will bring us a lot of points.

“We’re looking better than we were five or six games ago, that much is obvious. We’re in a good position and have a platform to build from. We’re in the play-off zone and now we want to keep picking up points and climbing up the table.”

Rovers face another difficult trip this Saturday when they travel to Barrow but a win could potentially take Tranmere up to third.

Mellon added: “Barrow will be a tough game and we have to go up there with the right mentality. They have threats but we’ll be aware of them.”
