Reading Youngster Added To Guiseley Squad For Remainder Of The Season

By Steve Whitney

Guiseley AFC announced the signing of Jake Sheppard ahead of their 4-0 defeat at Prenton Park against Tranmere Rovers yesterday.

The 20-year-old right-back has joined the Lions on loan from SkyBet Championship side Reading until the end of the season.

Sheppard is an attacking full-back who is quick and powerful.

Alongside representing Reading`s academy sides, the young defender has also represented Scotland at youth level and was initially part of the Scottish contingent that made the UEFA Under-17s Championship semi-finals in May 2014 and has since gone on to play for the under-21s north of the border.

Sheppard, who started yesterday`s game, isn`t new to the National League scene, however, as he spent time out on loan last season, impressing at Dagenham & Redbridge where he scored twice in ten appearances.
