Kinnear Knows His Dover Can Fight On Two Fronts

Dover manager Chris Kinnear wants an FA Trophy run to inspire their promotion bid - not get in the way of it.

The Whites play Eastbourne Borough at the Crabble this weekend and their boss won’t hear that you can’t challenge on two fronts.

Kinnear has vowed to field a strong side against their coastal counterparts and wants a shot at Wembley.

He told the Kent Messenger that the FA Trophy is important to their season.

He said: “We will be trying to win the game. There’s a chance of going to Wembley and it will probably be a national side who wins.

“At the moment we are one of the top sides and why shouldn’t we try and get to the final and play at Wembley. We might get two games at Wembley, we might not get one.”

The club’s FA Cup campaign was over before it began this term and Dover, in the National League play-off places, don’t want to just focus on the league.

“We have got to give the players and squad the opportunity of playing at Wembley,” Kinnear told the Messenger ahead of the home tie with National League South Boro.

“We’ve got to the quarter final in the last couple of years and we probably should have won both of those.

“We can beat anyone in this league and this is the top league in the competition.”
