King Steve Leaves Whitehawk As Youth Coach Jude Steps Up

Steve King has left Whitehawk following the club’s relegation from the National League South - and the club have confirmed who will replace him.

The fans’ favourite did a great job at the Enclosed Ground and their form in the second half of the season inspired an unexpected battle against relegation.

Called ‘the King of Sussex’, the ex-Lewes manager has parted company with the club today.

A club statement confirmed: “He changed almost the entire squad and staged a fantastic comeback second half of the season. Unfortunately Hawks fell at the last hurdle, confirming Hawks relegation to the Bostik Premier League.

“Following the relegation King has been in discussion with the Whitehawk board, and has mutually agreed to leave Whitehawk with immediate effect.

“Steve King has earned himself legendary status with the Hawks following two spells in charge and departs the club as the most successful manager in Whitehawk history.

“Whitehawk would like to wish the club legend all the best in his future endeavours.”

Replacing him at the helm is U18 manager Jude Macdonald.

“This is a massive opportunity to take over a club like Whitehawk,” he said. “Having been with the club for five years, to be involved with the first team is a huge opportunity and a big challenge lies ahead.

“I’m looking forward to leading the club as it heads in a new direction and am looking forward to getting started.”
