It’s Double Trouble For Chester As Injury News Hits Blues

Chester’s National League North title bid has taken a knock after injury news was announced.

Key players Gary Stopforth and Asante Akwasi are facing more time on the sidelines.

Neither have played since Christmas and their absence has certainly been felt.

Chester’s win on Saturday at struggling FC United was their first victory in four attempts.

While joint manager Anthony Johnson was pleased with that result, he won’t be happy with the double dose of bad news on the injury front.

He spoke to Cheshire Live and says midfield man Stopforth will be missing for a considerable amount of time.

“Both Gaz Stopforth and Akwasi had scans and we had the results back this week and it wasn't what we were hoping for," said Johnson.

“Gary looks like he is going to need surgery on his injury and he is going to be out for the foreseeable future, which is a massive blow for us as he has been first class.

“The injury situation is like nothing I've ever known,” he added.

“We've just got to get through it and see if we can bring in some bodies in the short term to help with numbers."
