Hatters' Ray of Sunshine is Volunteer of the Month

Ray Pelham of Stockport County has won August’s Volunteer of the Month for the National League.

Ray has been a long serving (long-suffering!) supporter of the club for over 50-years and a member of Help The Hatters, our supporters association, since its formation.

Now retired, Ray assists with the post-match day litter clear up.
On Wednesday mornings, Ray spends time with the Community Foundation in the Club’s museum, welcoming the more mature fans and serving refreshments. In a project called ‘Sport In Memories’, the older generation meet in this social space to chat about County and many other topics.

A number of the attendees are in sheltered accommodation and the various housing associations within the borough also transport any house-bound tenants to the museum each Wednesday. Ray has been a supporter of this project since its inception last year.

Ray’s summer months are spent refurbishing and maintaining the stadium ready for the new season.
