Edinburgh Has A Message For His Orient Players

Justin Edinburgh has told his players: keep calm and carry on winning.

The Leyton Orient manager was thrilled his ten men bit back to take three potentially critical points at Sutton United.

Macauley Bonne netted a crucial late penalty - a comeback which took his side back to the top of the National League after Salford City beat Maidenhead United earlier in the day.

Their advantage remains two points and they have a superior goal difference - but the O’s now have two tough games with Harrogate and Solihull Moors to come.

“I think it’s take another day or two to take all of that in!” he told the Guardian Series.

“It was a bizarre game with a lot of incredible incidents and we needed someone with nerves of steel.

“Macauley produced that to give us the winning goal.

“It probably wasn’t our best performance but at this stage of the season it’s all about the result and we got three valuable points today.”

He added: “Credit to Sutton because they made it very difficult.

“I think what we’re seeing is that nobody’s rolling over - but when we needed that character, that drive to the end, which we’ve got in abundance, it came to the fore.

“We just had to try and remain calm, quickly get back in the game, find an inspiration from somewhere.”
