Burman In Honest Mood As Dartford Crumble At Clarence Park

Tony Burman says lessons will be learned and things put right after the National League South leaders were humbled at St Albans City.

In the shock result of the season so far, the Saints ran out easy victors on a day when none of the title contenders won.

Little damage has been done to the Dartford’s title bid because of it but that didn’t make the defeat any easier to digest for the manager.

Burman was frank after the match and told the National League’s Oli Osborn that it wasn’t just the players who made an error.

“We were absolutely bartered by the better side,” he said. “They were better all over the park.

“The two goals they scored before half -time killed us really. If it’s just one, you have a chance to put that right but a free header and it’s over really.

“Sometimes you have just got to put your hands up and accept you were beaten by the better side.”

Sam Merson-inspired St Albans found Dartford easy prey - and they haven’t quite found the levels on the road that they have at Prince Park.

“I think I maybe made a mistake with the formation, and I’ll look at that. But you expect the players you pick to do better.

“We have got to start being better away from home, absolutely. We need to be taking a minimum of a point really and we haven’t been doing that.”

Dartford have two tough games coming up - at home to Chelmsford City and away to in-form Wealdstone.
