Bromley Open New Stand In Front of Bumper Hayes Lane Crowd

Bromley marked the opening of the new Glyn Beverly Stand yesterday with victory over a Crystal Palace XI.

An official ceremony took place prior to kick-off to honour the former Chairman and Club President, who had an association with the Club for more than 35 years before passing away in late 2017.

There was a heartfelt speech from Chairman Jerry Dolke, as well as the attendance of numerous former players.

Fittingly, the only goal of the match was scored in front of the Glyn Beverly Stand, thanks to a back-post header from new signing Joe Kizzi.

Speaking after the match, Bromley boss Neil Smith reflected on a memorable occasion: “For us to beat Palace and open the Stand in Glyn’s honour was a massive day.

“We wanted to put on a show, mark a great man’s time here and where we are now as a Club.

“It showed the emotion but also the togetherness that this Club has. The former players wanted to come back and pay their respects to Glyn.

“You can see from the Stand itself just where the Club wants to go.

“Together with the supporters and ex-players, they’re a part of this Club’s history and we want to make it a special season this year”.

Bromley face a trip to Chorley on the opening day of the Vanarama National League season.
