Armstrong Backs Blyth To Break Out Of Slump

Spartans, who saw a much-changed side lose 8-2 to Morpeth Town in the Northumberland Senior Cup on Wednesday, remain in the National League North play-off places but they have now lost back-to-back games and four of their last six after Saturday’s 2-1 reverse at Boston United.

Blyth enjoyed a brilliant first half of the season after promotion from the Northern Premier League last term and Armstrong is adamant his players will start replicating those results - if they trust each other.

After their latest disappointment, Armstrong told BSAFC TV: “It’s frustrating more than anything. I thought the lads deserved to get something out of the game.

“To throw away a point the way we did was criminal. The lads have got to do better defensively and they know that. They need to get out of the little rut that they’re in and get back to playing their best.

“We’ve got to remember that we’ve had a great start to the season and you don’t just become a bad team overnight.

“We’ve just got to trust each other, believe and keep working hard. Things will change without a shadow of a doubt.”
