Who’s Hot And Who’s Not In NL North And South

By Steven Coney

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Or so the old saying goes. But at this time of year, form can transform a season.

An underperforming team can get back right into contention with a few wins and a club flying high can quickly slip down the table if they hit a wall.

We’ve looked at the last four games for the hottest and coldest teams across the Vanarama National League North and South divisions - is your club included?

Who’s Hot

Kidderminster Harriers

John Eustace’s side are now 17 games unbeaten in the National League North. They’ve won three in a row and look to be playing some of their best football.

St Albans City

The Saints have scored 11 times in their last two games including a 4-0 thrashing of leaders Dartford. Forward Sam Merson is on fire and City are right in the title hunt.

Boston United

Craig Elliott has turned the Pilgrims around since taking charge in November. They’ve won three in a row and could make a late run at the play-offs.

Nuneaton Town

Boro have only conceded one goal in their last four matches and won three of them to climb away from trouble in the National League North.

Whitehawk

The Hawks had a terrible first-half of the season but they’ve been a different beast in 2018. They’ve won three of their last four and scored plenty of goals. Their Great Escape doesn’t look so unlikely anymore.

Honourable mentions: Spennymoor Town, Salford City, Darlington, Truro City, Welling United, Poole Town.

Who’s Not

AFC Telford United

The only Step 2 side that have lost four games in a row. The Bucks have had some tough fixtures but need to get back to winning ways quickly to climb out of the National League North’s bottom three.

Oxford City

City have claimed just a solitary point from their last four games in the National League South. Defeats to Whitehawk, East Thurrock and Concord have seen them sink towards the bottom three.

Bognor Regis Town

A team already in the bottom three, Bognor have gained two points from their previous four fixtures. Seven points adrift of safety, draws aren’t much use to the Rocks.

Blyth Spartans

Spartans’ tough run has seen them slip out of the top seven in the National League North. Blyth need a reaction following a run of three defeats in a row.

Braintree Town

Another promotion hopeful at the wrong end of our list. The Iron are in the last play-off position in National League South despite just two points in four games.
