What's On Offer Tonight Across The National League?

By Sam Elliott

There’s no shortage of National League action this evening - ten games over the three divisions and plenty to keep us occupied as a busy midweek programme gets underway.

Tonight there are four National League fixtures and with Boreham Wood the only team with promotion aspirations in action, they can move up into fourth should they get the better of a Maidenhead United side who could probably do without this game.

After shipping seven goals at Gateshead on Saturday, Alan Devonshire will demand a response but against a side with an excellent home record, they know they will really have to dig in this evening.

The Heed themselves will be thankful of another game so soon - but at home to Solihull Moors tonight, they know it won’t be the same game as Saturday and are playing a side with survival on their minds. Mark Yates’ team will jump out of the bottom four and above Barrow with three points.

It’s now or never for Torquay United. They know National League South football is a formality unless there’s a dramatic turnaround. Simply, it needs to start at Leyton Orient this evening - they have nine points to make-up and time is running out. It’s all about building for next season for Orient now, and Justin Edinburgh will use games wisely.

FC Halifax can all-but confirm their National League place for next season tonight, if they can beat Dagenham at the Shay and go potentially 11 points clear of trouble.

In the National League North, we have four games - and two former Football league clubs collide at Aggborough.

York City and Kidderminster have precious play-off points to play for this evening and we’ll be there as one of our feature games tonight.

Southport are looking to continue their fantastic home form when AFC Telford come to town, but with the Bucks third from bottom, they will need to show no respect to Kevin Davies’ home kings tonight.

Brackley are warming up for Saturday’s FA Trophy semi-final with Wealdstone with a trip to another side near the bottom, Gainsborough Trinity.

Tamworth are far too close to the bottom for comfort and need a home victory over Darlington to ease nerves at The Lamb.

In the National League South, we are going to find out if the leaders Havant & Waterlooville have staying power.

A home game with a Wealdstone side who know how to sparkle will be a big test for Lee Bradbury’s men. The Stones will be aware they can’t afford to lose if they’re serious about getting in the top seven. We will be there for special coverage across social media this evening.

Bath City will move level with the final play-off place if they beat Eastbourne Borough and manager Jerry Gill knows his side “still have a good chance” of earning a promotion position. Their game at Twerton Park later is crucial.
