Terras Are Back But Molesley's Aware Of Challenges Ahead

Weymouth can’t wait to get going in the National League South - but manager Mark Molesley has issued a little warning.

The Terras are back nearly a decade after their relegation.

The Southern League champions ended years of trying thanks to their stylish football and togetherness under the former Aldershot Town winger.

But while anticipation is growing, Molesley is wary that Weymouth need to acclimatise to their new surroundings quickly.

Of course the club will have to tackle the step up without top scorer Brandon Goodship, who has clinched a move to Southend United on the back on his incredible season.

The manager thinks his scoring boots can be filled but knows how much hard work it is going to take.

“We’re up for the challenge, the whole club is,” said the 38-year-old, who has also played National League football for Grays, Stevenage and Hayes.

“But we know it’s a really strong league we’re going into - possibly the strongest it has ever been.

“There are a number of full-time clubs in there and there’s are many who have stronger finances than we do.

“But that’s a part of the game and that only spurs us on.

“The National League South can chew you up and spit you out if you don’t prepare right and hit the ground running. We can’t wait to test ourselves.

“It’s not going to be easy but neither was the Southern League.”

It’s been a quiet close season so far for Weymouth fans with the manager biding his time before making new additions.

“We need to work as hard as we can and improve onset year,” he added. “That is always our aim.”
