Shiels Signs As Pilgrims Look to Shore Things Up

Boston United have made their first move of the close season as they plot a promotion push next season.

The have announced central defender Luke Shiels has agreed to play for the National League North club next season.

The 29-year-old signs from Alfreton Town and he will look to tighten up a defence that their manager says let it too many goals.

Craig Elliott was thrilled with his first bit of business in what could be a busy summer for Boston.

"He is the leader we have been after for a while,” the York Street boss said about new boy Shiels on the club’s official website.

"Luke is strong and aggressive and attacks the ball in both boxes.

"He has vast experience at this level and I am very much looking forward to working with him."
