Rendell Issues A Rallying Cry To His Sharp Shots

Scott Rendell sees no reason why Aldershot Town can’t be National League champions.

But the striker accepts the club are about to embark on a pivotal period in their season as the big games come thick and fast.

The second place Shots are gearing up for a a run which could define their title challenge as Gary Waddock’s team look to build on Saturday’s live BT Sport win at Dagenham.

Rendell scored one and set up the other in the 2-0 victory in East London - before withdrawing injured.

He says wild horses couldn’t keep him out on this weekend’s crunch 1st v 2nd game at home to Macclesfield.

Aldershot then face freescoring Bromley at the EBB before a trip to the leaders going into last weekend, Wrexham.

Rendell said: “We know what we’ve got coming up, there are some massive matches and we need to perform.

“We’re all very tight-knit, that’s what the gaffer likes. You can see that with the run we’re on, we’re all singing off the same hymn sheet.

“We believe massively inside the dressing room that we can do it, but there’s a lot of big games coming up.

“We go above Macclesfield next week if we beat them, that’s a huge incentive. We can only take each game as it comes but it’s a really big time in our season.”

Rendell has a message for the club’s fans ahead of two home games in a row - more of the same, please.

“All I’ll say is carry on, come out in your numbers and just do what you’ve been doing,” the former Woking and Cambridge United man said.

“They turned the away game into a home game at Dagenham - they are always the same and they really help us cross the line.”
