Ones To Watch: Big 3 National League South Games

By Sam Elliott

There's plenty of not-to-be-missed matches this weekend in the Vanarama National League South, but we've pick out three that have a lot riding on them - for more than just three points!

Havant & W v Hemel Hempstead
Despite Havant’s strong position recent climb back up the table, things could be pointing to an away win. Why? The Hawks are terrible at home. In fact, if they were as good at West Leigh Park as they were on their travels, they’d be screaming ‘catch us if you can’ to the rest of the league. Just two league wins at home says it all.

Hemel Hempstead are very much on the up. Three wins in a row, and three clean sheets to boot. Dean Brennan won’t say if his team are in contention for the title but win on the south coast and he won’t be able to keep dodging the question!

Truro City v Dartford
What will become of the broken hearted? Both these side’s FA Cup dreams ended in despair last weekend. Dartford weren’t a match for Swindon Town while Truro put up a brave fight before being eventually downed by Charlton at the Valley.

Without a victory since September - when the White Tigers won seven of their seven games - Saturday would be the ideal moment to get back on track. But Dartford want to stay top while showing there is no ill-effects from their hammering by Swindon.

Wealdstone v Hungerford
Bobby Wilkinson says it was the toughest decision he has ever had to make to walk away from his position of Hungerford’s most successful ever manager. After three promotions, Wilkinson, pictured, comes up against them for the first time.

But should the Stones win again and close the gap further on the play-off places, he’ll know he made the right choice but Hungerford having lost their last two will know the importance of coming away from west London will points and pride in tact.
