New Ferriby Boss Looking For Revenge For Opening Day Loss

North Ferriby United entertain Curzon Ashton in a reverse of the opening fixture of the season which the Nash won 4-0.

New Ferriby boss Chris Bolder was not in charge for that game but, even so, will be hoping his players can produce a much better performance than they did that day.

Curzon are thirteenth in the National League North, eighteen points ahead of Ferriby. They will be eager for the points as they could be drawn in to a relegation fight in what is a tight situation in the bottom half of the table.

Curzon have won one and drawn four of their ten away games so that will give some hope to a Ferriby side looking for its first home win of the season.

Bolder told his club`s official website: “Although Curzon have not won in their past four league games, they have shown already this season that they are capable of beating some good teams in the league.

“They have always been known as aside that likes to move the ball and they have brought in some players that they will be hoping gets them back to winning ways.

“Looking at their recent results it shows that the games have been very tight, so we will be expecting a very tough encounter.”

Looking back to last Saturday’s game against Nuneaton, Bolder commented:
“Obviously we were disappointed with the final outcome but there were positives from the performance, especially the first 45 minutes.

“We showed a desire to want to work hard and compete for every ball which was pleasing and that must be present in all future games.”

Bolder is right to praise the players’ desire last Saturday. Sadly, that has not always been in evidence this season but Bolder is clearly determined that that will change. There have been games this season that The Villagers could have won or drawn if the desire and commitment had been there. There is not necessarily much to choose between most teams in the division which is why Bolder, and owner/chairman James Walshaw have not given up on avoiding relegation.

It will be something akin to a footballing miracle, but teams do put winning runs together and Bolder’s team do have the ability to do that.

This is a view echoed by captain Simon Russell: “We need to keep working hard and making sure we do everything we can to get that win which can kickstart a run of results for us.

“Confidence is a factor after such a poor run of results, but only we - the players - can go out there and turn it around.

“The manager has told us it’s a fresh start from now and we have to believe, like he does, that we can get out of this situation.”

The players need the supporters to get them behind them and the fans will do that if they see effort on the pitch.

With some new incentives to increase attendances, it is hoped that Ferriby supporters will come back to the club and support the new owner and manager.
