Mellon Wants To Keep Rovers Forward Line Together

Micky Mellon says he wants to build a team at Tranmere Rovers, and not take one apart.

The Rovers manager has distance himself from rumours linking some of the club’s forward players with a move away from Prenton Park.

Andy Cook has been linked with a transfer out of the north west, while Andy Mangan is another player who has seen his name spoken about.

Mellon, who said the rest shouldn’t read too much into Saturday’s stunning 11-0 friendly with over Cammell Laird, isn’t keep to take his forward line apart.

James Alabi, 22, scored five goals on his debut at the weekend but the manager stressed just because they have signed the striker they want that room needs to be made.

“We have no need to move anybody on and there is no plan to move anybody on,” Mellon stressed.

“That doesn’t mean to say if something comes in and the club believes that it’s good for the club, that the club would do that.

“But there is absolutely no plan to lose anybody. We’re trying to build a team. My mind hasn’t changed on that,” the manager told The Echo.
