Killick Can Enjoy His Christmas As Home Woes Are Eased

Poole Town ended their long wait for a first home win on Saturday - and now manager Tom Killick can enjoy his Christmas!

The Dolphins hadn’t won on home soil all season long but they finally put that right at the weekend.

A 3-1 triumph against Weston-super-Mare wasn’t enough to take the club out of the bottom three but it did mean their manager can now breath a little easier.

Killick didn’t try to underplay the size of the win when he spoke to the the Bournemouth Echo.

“There was unbelievable relief for us due to the fact we don’t have a fixture for two weeks,” said Killick.

“There was so much pressure on the game and we would have been in a difficult position had we not picked up maximum points."

“In the second half, we weren’t fluent and you could tell there were a lot of nerves out there because we all knew how much was at stake,” he added.

“Although we didn’t play well in the second period, we defended our goal brilliantly, blocking, throwing our bodies at everything and that showed real spirit, which ultimately got us over the line.”
