Harrison Doesn't Care How Pools' Long Awaited Win Arrived

It all got a bit uneasy towards the end, but Hartlepool United’s 11 match winless run finally came to an end on Saturday. Their manager couldn’t care less how it came about.

Devante Rodney, Jake Cassidy and Rhys Oates put Pools 3-0 up against Woking as they looked to be making light of their growing relegation concerns.

But the Cards battled back in the closing stages and nearly claimed a share of the spoils.

Manager Craig Harrison knew how important it was to stop the rot and although it’s not how he wanted to win, he would happily take the three points on offer however they were presented.

“It’s been a long time to wait but the fans were fantastic again so it was important to reward them and hopefully they go home happy,” the manager told Pools PlayerHD.

“Devante could have had a hat-trick today but he took his goal really well, Cass took his goal really well and then Rhys has been really brave to get in front of the goalkeeper to get the flick on for his goal.

“On a different day we could have scored seven or eight with the opportunities and the positions we got ourselves in to which is really pleasing.

“There were massive positives even though we got a bit sloppy and disjointed in the last ten minutes but we aren’t going to worry about that too much.

“It was three points and I’ll take that every week.”

The win lifts Hartlepool into 18th but they are still just four points from safety thanks to Solihull Moors’ win.

Harrison’s team face a massive match against FC Halifax on Tuesday night - the side they jumped ahead of in the National League after beating Woking.
