Gulls Are Watching The Window Hoping For A Big Windfall!

Torquay United officials will be watching the final few days of the transfer window like never before - and it’s nothing to do with ins or outs at Plainmoor!

The Gulls, bottom of the Vanarama National League, are waiting to see what happens up in Yorkshire.

That’s because Barnsley captain, and their former player, Angus MacDonald has been heavily linked with a move to Hull City.

Although no transfer fee has been confirmed, Torquay officials inserted a 15 per cent sell on clause according to Devon Live, when he left the club in 2016 for £100,000.

That means a windfall for the club if he makes the switch to the Championship Tigers before the close of play on Wednesday with any deal sure to be worth seven figures.

The power of the sell-on fee is growing as more money changes hands at the top end of the game.

The 25-year-old has impressed at Oakwell, playing alongside a number of other former National League players like Dover Athletic striker Stefan Payne and ex-Barnet full-back Andy Yiadom.

Torquay are bottom of the league and are trying to escape slipping into the National League South next season. They drew 1-1 with leaders Macclesfield Town on Saturday.
