Frustrated Boss Hessenthaler Fumes At Sloppy Spitfires

By Steven Coney

Eastleigh boss Andy Hessenthaler says it was “criminal” that his side didn’t go on to beat Woking on Saturday after taking the lead.

Despite the Cards having Chez Isaac sent off early in the second half, Eastleigh needed a late Callum Howe goal to grab a 2-2 draw.

Hessenthaler’s men also drew on Boxing Day against Torquay United and even though his side are unbeaten in four National League games, the new boss was not pleased with another stalemate - their 13th this season.

“It was a frustrating afternoon just like the Boxing Day game,” he told Eastleigh’s Youtube channel. “We need to work on our play against ten men because it’s driving me mad.

“It’s about keeping clean sheets and if we can’t keep clean sheets, we’re not going to win football matches.

“The players know we need to start winning and we can’t do that at the moment. To go 1-0 up and not win the game is criminal. There are positives, but not many.”
