Ferriby Move A No-Brainer For Pugh

The Villagers new signing Joseph Pugh says he did not have to think twice about joining the Vanarama National League North side.

The 19 year old joined the Villagers, with other clubs looking at bringing him in for the season. He revealed that Russ Wilcox the head of recruitment at his old club Doncaster Rovers spoke highly of the team, writes Tom Feaheny.

“Russ helped me out massively on the move. I would like to thank him for that. He had told me that a few clubs were interested in signing me.

“He kept telling me to consider Ferriby. Once I had spoke to Housh, I couldn’t wait for get started. It was a no-brainier for me.”

Pugh said there were other factors in his decision to join as well.

“A few of my mates played for them last season. They had nothing but good things to say about the club so it was an easy decision for me to make. I want to get this club back to where it belongs. Also I only live 25 minutes away which saves time with the travelling.”

Pugh knows that with a number of full-time teams in the league it will be tough.

“It’s a division, with some very good players. I’m excited to see what the season has to offer, I can’t wait to get going.”

Pugh joins after a spell at Hull City and then Doncaster Rovers academy, where he made one appearance for the South Yorkshire side. He said that he enjoyed his time working with Darren Ferguson.

“I was at Doncaster two and a half years and I learnt so much. I made friends for life there, I’ve developed so much as a player over the past year, that’s all down to the manger Darren. I’ll take everything I’ve learnt from last season into this and I’m sure I’ll be able to provide goals.”
