Defender Anderson Leaves Torquay By Mutual Consent

Torquay United have agreed to cancel the contract of defender Myles Anderson by mutual consent.

Anderson will be remembered by supporters as one of the players that helped steer the club away from relegation last season.

Anderson signed for the Gulls in early February after three years playing in Italy where he played for Monza, Pro Patria, Chievo, L’Aquila, and Lupa Castelli Romani.

He went on to make twenty-three appearances for United, scoring 2 goals.

Anderson made his debut in United’s 1-1 draw against Macclesfield Town on February 11th, 2017.

United picked up form and clean sheets against Barrow AFC, Tranmere Rovers, Solihull Moors, and North Ferriby gave United a solid base to turn the season around.

It was in United’s 0-0 draw against Tranmere Rovers that Anderson sustained a broken nose that meant him wearing a protective mask for the remainder of the season.

United’s 2-1 win over Dover Athletic was another vital stepping stone. Anderson, and United’s backline, stood up to a Dover attack that included lethal forward Ricky Miller.

He scored twice in last season’s epic last day win over North Ferriby United that clinched survival for United.

The first goal was wrongly attributed to Aman Verma on the day, but Anderson’s goals were vital in a win that will live long in the memory for Gulls fans everywhere.

“I was very happy to be a part of what we achieved last season,” Anderson told his club`s official website. “To score the goals to help keep us in the league was a very proud moment for me.

“I would like to thank the fans for their support; it was always special to play in front of such great support home and away”.
