Brundle Over The Moon To Be Dover's Captain

Mitch Brundle recently joined the side from fellow Vanarama National League club Gateshead and has now been given the captain's armband for the season.

The versatile player made 34 National League appearances for Gateshead last season, he recently found out he would skipper his new team for the 2017/18 season, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking to the club's website, Brundle could not hide his delight at being given the armband.

"It has been fantastic, I am over the moon at being given the role, hopefully it will help help the lads push on, I will take a lot of pride in this new role.

"It has put pressure on me but that is something I will thrive off.”

Over 1000 people were in attendance at Crabble on Saturday to watch Athletic draw 2-2 against League One opposition Gillingham and Brundle felt it was a good work-out for the team.

"Considering the boys have only played 45 minutes each with the first half and second half teams, we take positives from it, we are getting into a position where everyone is knowing there jobs."

"The fitness work is helping us, none of the lads are pulling up with cramp, we know everyone is ready for Tuesday with no injuries picked up which is crucial.

After moving down from the North-East after a season with the Heed, Brundle spoke about the importance of settling into the area quickly.

"It has been a bit easier than I thought, I found a house in five days, I'm all moved in and settled which is nice, so I will be ready for the start of the season."
