Bower’s Boys Joint Top But Avenue Boss Isn’t Totally Happy

Mark Bower watched his Bradford Park Avenue side go joint top with a 4-1 win at Yorkshire rivals York City but still picked apart his players’ performance.

Bower clearly sets his standards high but said the victory at Bootham Crescent was “massive”.

Bradford are now joint top of the National League North following their victory and another Chorley slip but the manager still wants more.

“It’s fantastic coming to a place like York and winning 4-1,” he said on the club’s YouTube channel.

“But obviously the turning point was the red card. It changes the game and if that doesn’t happen who knows how the game would have gone.

“You do have got to make that extra man count but I don’t think we moved the ball well enough.

“We started to do that and then we sat back again. We went too long and too direct and it invited them onto us, we dropped our standards a little bit.

“I was disappointed with how we handled some of the game but when we got the fourth goal it was game over and it was a very pleasing win.

“It’s a really really tough week but a fantastic week. I can’t take anything away from the lads.”
