Barrow Swoop For Local Reds Striker

By Steve Whitney

Barrow AFC have signed local forward Nathan Waterston from Evo-Stik League Premier Cumbrian neighbours Workington AFC.

Waterston actually came through the Bluebirds` youth system to under-18 level before joining Ebac Northern League First Division side Penrith where he caught Workington`s attention.

He has been given a run in the Reds side recently and has scored 10 goals in thirty-three appearances as well as claiming seven assists.

Waterstone netted twice against Marine AFC in the Integro League Cup and against National League opposition in their Buildbase FA Trophy defeat to Bromley.

Barrow manager Ady Pennock watched Waterston in action several times over the past few weeks, and made the move for him after he helped the Reds to a penalty shoot-out win at Lancaster City last night in the Integro Cup – Workington waiving the seven-day notice of approach.

He is therefore eligible to play at Macclesfield Town on Saturday.
