Ainsley Accepts Revenge Will Be In The Air At Chorley

Jason Ainsley is well aware Chorley will have a score to settle against Spennymoor in the National League North Promotion Final.

Moors are through after holding their nerve against Brackley Town on Sunday.

The penalty kick win was one of long-serving Ainsley’s most cherished moments at the club - but he knows there’s a revenge mission in store next.

Spennymoor’s late win over Chorley three weeks ago swung the title race firmly in Stockport County’s favour.

Now they need to inflict some more damage on the Magpies next weekend.

“It was right up there,” Ainsley told the club’s video service.

“Brackley are a top, top side - they have some outstanding footballers. People thought we would be cannon fodder but we stood up to it.

“Both sides had chances and it seemed like both sides didn’t want to win it!

“We had to put a real shift in. We’re running on empty, the injuries we have got have caused us problems but we did it.”

He added: “Chorley have a job to settle with us after our goal took them off the top of the table a few weeks ago.

“But we’re in it to win it, we want to go up.

“I’m just so proud - to be in the play-off final is an outstanding achievement.”
