PREVIEW: FA Cup First Round Replays

By David Richardson

Three of our Vanarama National League sides are in big FA Cup first round replay action over the next two days.

Woking head to League One side Bury tonight hoping to cause an upset and reach the second round in consecutive seasons. The Cards fell behind after just 42 seconds at the Laithwaite Community Stadium but recovered to deservedly force a replay. Jamie Philpot headed home the equaliser in the first-half and by full-time, this result felt like a missed opportunity for Woking.

Since then, Anthony Limbrick's team drew 0-0 at FC Halifax Town to end their three-game losing streak in the league. Bury will still be under the stewardship of caretaker manager Ryan Lowe for the tie after Lee Clark was sacked to weeks ago. They drew 1-1 with Gillingham on Saturday and are now bottom of League One.

Accrington Stanley, of League Two, will host Paul Cox's Guiseley this evening. This tie went to a replay after the National League side earned an impressive 0-0 draw at Nethermoor Park. Accrington are second, just a point off the top while the Lions are only a point above relegation but since Cox's arrival there have been plenty of good signs. A late defeat to Bromley ended their four-game unbeaten run in the division and they'll be without captain Ash Palmer tonight, who was sent off. Stanley drew 0-0 at Cambridge United.

The BT Sport cameras will be at Prenton Park on Wednesday evening when Tranmere Rovers are visited by League One's Peterborough United. Andy Cook forced a replay, cancelling out Jack Marriott's goal at Posh. Rovers beat Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday to close the gap on the top ten while Peterborough drew at AFC Wimbledon.
