Mambo No5 Arrives... At Long Last!

Ebbsfleet United have relented to public pressure - and will make Mambo No5 a reality at last!

The club have been bombarded with complaints at their failure to hand popular defender Yado Mambo with the number 5 jersey, in line with the catchy cult 90's pop tune Mambo No5.

The centre back wears 18 and after playing in the live BT Sport game against Leyton Orient, the viewers were quick to point out Fleet’s error, which clearly doesn’t properly recognise the talents of the song’s singer Lou Bega.

Nostalgic music lovers have taken to twitter to demand action - and finally Fleet are ready to do something about the glaring oversight.

The Vanarama National League club have had the great idea of getting exclusive shirts made and auctioning them off for charity.

Fleet want to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK Just visit their eBay page here to get involved for a great cause.

But be quick... sources close to the club have told us that bids have been lodged already by 'a Jessica and Tina'.

However, Fleet officials have furiously denied speculation that Sandra and Mary are interested.

Last night, Erica ruled herself out of the running - saying that she wants nothing more to do with the 1999 hit.

At the time of publication, Monica, was unavailable for comment but Rita did tell us: “Leave me alone...this is all I need!”

Ebbsfleet said: “Ebbsfleet United hasn’t failed to notice the recent frenzy created by our defender Yado Mambo’s No.5 squad shirt. Or should we say, lack of a No.5 squad shirt.

“It was something we noted six years ago on Yado’s debut but nonetheless, messages have poured in imploring us to swap our squad numbers around so that Mambo and No.5 can be united in perfect musical harmony.

“And we have caved in. Well, sort of.

“Alas, the No.5 currently belongs to our skipper Dave Winfield and he’s a pretty big chap. Try as we might to wrestle it out of his hands, it would take braver men than us to do that.

“Moreover (though somewhat more mundane), squad numbers have been registered with the league since August and a change mid-season isn’t worth us ploughing through the rule book to look for the relevant clause.

“So, how can we give the nation what it desires and do some good at the same time? Well, the Mambo furore began as a result of his televised appearance against Leyton Orient and our nominated charity for that game was Prostate Cancer UK.

“Therefore, we are auctioning off, via eBay, an exclusive Mambo No.5 home shirt (size XL) and certificate of authenticity with a signed photograph of Yado holding the shirt. We have already had a private submission of £350 before the eBay auction was launched so bidding starts at that figure.

“So please, spread the news far and wide on social media and raise some money for Prostate Cancer UK in the meantime.”
