Five Loan Stars Making A Big Impression

By Tom Feaheny

With January now here, it is a time to reflect on some players who have really stood out while on a temporary basis with their new clubs.

These are five players who have impressed at the clubs they are at now, writes Tom Feaheny.

Jonny Smith- AFC Fylde on loan from Bristol City

The Coasters midfielder is on loan from Championship side Bristol City, he has been dubbed by some as the next Gareth Bale, after impressing at Wrexham.

Smith has played a significant role in helping Fylde to three wins in a row, he has shown real quality and has scored four times so far.

The 20 year-old has made 25 appearances so far.

Reece Thompson- Boston United on loan from Guiseley

After joining the Pilgrims on a short-term basis, this was quickly extended and for good reason.

The forward has played a big part in the improvements in results for Boston United under Craig Elliott.

He is now there until the end of the season and that is welcome news to Boston United fans, with two goals scored for himself in 2018 already in the league.

Reece Hall-Johnson- Chester on loan from Grimsby Town

Hall-Johnson in a short space of time has become a bit of a fans favourite for Chester with 11 appearances so far for the side.

An incredible goal line clearance against FC Halifax Town showed the ability the defender has and it is those moments of defensive brilliance that mean Marcus Bignot is pleased.

He has also scored a crucial goal for the club in their 3-2 win against Barrow back in October.

Alex Pattison- York City on loan from Middlesborough

Only four appearances for the youngster so far, but certainly made a good impression for the Minstermen fans.

They had won their last three matches with Martin Gray putting his trust in the midfielder who is being tipped for big things with the Championship side in the future.

Callum Howe- Eastleigh on loan from Lincoln City

The defender has played a big part in the Spitfires starting to climb the table, and as captain he made 25 appearances so far for the central-defender who last season gained promotion from the National League with Lincoln City.

The centre-back had scored two in a row and returned to Lincoln City after captaining the Spitfires 16 times.
