Deeney Can See Oxford's Improvements

Assistant Manager Joe Deeney says Oxford City have worked hard and are now seeing the rewards from it.

Oxford City have enjoyed a fine few weeks with progression to the FA Cup second round and now two games unbeaten in the league with a win over Chelmsford City their last result, writes Tom Feaheny.

"We knew it would be a real challenge, we had to dig deep at the end, the lads in the dressing are over-joyed," Denney told BBC Radio Oxford.

"The first minutes they had a good chance, but we went in at half-time thinking we could and probably should have been 2 or three up, we had to stand to be counted, you can see the improvements being made.

While the side remain in the relegation zone, Deeney is confident the improvements made will lead to success.

"You can see with the cup run and the recent league results, the confidence is there both in attack and defence, six weeks ago we wouldn't have had that little bit of luck as well when balls are in the area, we know aim to move up the league with how we are playing."
