Chorley's Achievements To Be Marked By Council

Chorley’s historic promotion has seen then rewarded with a special gala dinner as their local council confirmed official plans are being made to celebrate their success.

The National League North Promotion Final winners are already planning for the step-up.

Manager Jamie Vermiglio says he can’t wait to cut his teeth at the next level after their 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Spennymoor last Sunday.

A gala dinner at Park Hall on Friday will give them the perfect chance to raise a glass to promotion and a council spokesman told the Lancashire Post that the achievement will be officially recognised soon.

They said: “We’re in discussions with the club as to how best to mark the promotion.

“There are a few different options but nothing has been decided yet. As soon as it has been agreed we’ll share the details.”

Manager Vermiglio said: This is a massive, massive, massive thing for this town - make no mistake about that.

“This club were being watched by a few hundred people ten or so years ago. Now we’re playing to 3,500. It’s wonderful.

“But while next season will be a huge challenge it’s one we can’t wait for.

“We’re not just going into the National League to enjoy the experience. We want to go as far as we can and make these fans even more proud of their club.

“But first we are going to enjoy the moment and the fantastic achievement!”
