What's The Secret To The Iron's Super Season So Far?

What’s impressed Braintree Town manager Bradley Quinton most about his side this season? It’s not the fact they’re heading towards 50 goals before 2017 turns into 2018.

It’s not that the club have managed to turn frowns into smiles, being at the top of the National League South having been relegated on the final day of last season.

No, it’s how his team have managed to respond instantly when they have been defeated that is making the Cressing Road boss proud.

On Saturday, the Iron beat Eastbourne Borough 3-2 having just let themselves down at Wealdstone. Watch Match Highlights Here.

It was not the only time they have reacted to defeat with a win - and that pleases Quinton as they head into the busy Christmas period.

The manager said: “There’s a lot to be happy about, we’ve played some good football and after what happened last season you’ve to be happy to be at the right end.

“The dressing room we have put together is really strong. They pick themselves up when they lose, and we’ve seen that time and time again.

“That character is so important. It’s all very well playing the neat football but it’s about digging in and getting results.

“We are a young side, but they are enthusiastic and don’t stay down for too long. They’re improving all the time.

“There will be bumps in the road, that’s part of Non-League football and with a team of young players it won’t be perfect week in, week out.

“But to be where we are, joint top half way in, well it’s fantastic. But we’re nowhere near the end - we’ve got to keep going and keep going.”
